Rain on the river I'm soakin' wet
Waitin' on friend who ain't come yet
And he might not get here for three or four days
Got to make a little bit go a long way
I've got a blond headed woman who likes to come around
Cute little hippy girl lives in town
Brings a bag a records and she plays 'em 'til dawn
Give me little lovin' then she got to go home
When times are hard
When you start feelin' low
Let yourself go
When the river's risin' and the world feels cold
Let yourself go
Let yourself go
I got a 442 sittin' in the sun
Well it's been ten years since she used to run
Man she was a beauty in '69
But there ain't no more comin' down the line
When times are hard
And you start feelin' low
Let yourself go
When the river's risin' and your world feels cold
Let yourself go
Honey let yourself go

Love this album, a laid back, bluesy jam session.

Mediocre comment at it's worst.

I can. 10.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that his last two albums (Mojo and Hypnotic Eye) are right up there as some of his best.

I don't know Hypnotic Eye beyond what gets played on RP but agree about Mojo.

IMHO Tom Petty is in the small category of musicians who, like Robert Plant, got better with age.
If a ya got nuttin good to say, y say it bad
He was so good in the 70's.  This is garbage.

I wish there was an option of never playing "music" of those whose talent is common and found at any garage party. Tom Petty would be on the top of that list

Thanks user "bigbobbybubba".
Your comment persuaded me to take this track from an 8 to a 9.
Ain't it great to have a variety of musical tastes provided for here on RP!
I wish there was an option of never playing "music" of those whose talent is common and found at any garage party. Tom Petty would be on the top of that list, followed by BTO. Sucko Barfo.
Got this disc in the car right now.  Good stuff.
Totally w you buddy
I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that his last two albums (Mojo and Hypnotic Eye) are right up there as some of his best.
We miss you Tom🙏

love this song...

love it!  Man, that "Got a 4-4-2 sittin in the sun...been ten years since she used to run...Man she was a beauty back in '69...but there ain't no more comin down the line..." means a lot to me.  Know EXACTLY what he means there.  Tom has a way of tossing out stuff I can relate to, all the way back to high school, when he was first woven into the tapestry of my life with his eternally cool, "Break down — go ahead, give it to me!"

Nobody should get tired of the album of the century!
PETTY is just incredible!

...and the incredible guitar work!
GOD HIMSELF SINGING and PLAYING!

I really like Tom petty
Unfortunately there must be some kind of breakdown and TP leaves us free falling as he never comes around here no more. Maybe next tour we include a stop in Ottawa.

Had this cd on rotation in the car for two weeks straight. It's jolly good.
I love this TP album!
Prepping for the pasture in a lounge somewhere off of Ventura Blvd. Tom?
bring it back from Mexico, Tom.

With all the positive comments about this, how can it only have a 6.9 average rating???  {#Think}

Perhaps it's due to the boring & predictable melody? {#Yawn}

2nd time I had to stop and check out who this was on the playlist.

"Baby, please don't go..." I love it when Campbell quotes classic lines. Awesome album.

Tom petty and the heartbreakers have always made some good music.{#Dancingbanana_2}
That harmonica player isn't messing around, is he?  Petty's great in this, but I'm much more interested in that harp.

{#Bananajam}This is a terrific cut from a terrific album.  I like that they recorded it with no overdubs, in a 'live' environemnt.  Good TP!  {#Guitarist}
