What a beautiful song...
I remember watching the movie in NYC, maybe at the Palladium. The memory is vague. Something about a Devo clip coming first? We were given some strange paper glasses to wear? When Neil got to the line "there's more to the picture than meets the eye" I figured there must be something weird about to happen on the screen, so I put on the glasses. Nope, nothing.

Neil Young is a real talent, but his voice is like fingernails on a chalkboard (for me). Despite that, I really like this song. It is fantastic.

this song was burned into my ROM in 1988 when hitching a ride from a trucker from Great Falls to Kalispell, MT - the only tape he played the whole ride (all night on RT. 2) - hated it at first, a true believer after the 9th or 10th repeat

This is the tune that really turned me on to Neil Young.
Just scored a pair of tickets for my best friend and I to see Neil and Crazy Horse at Red Rocks! To see them jam between slabs of groovy sandstone reaching high into the mauve and periwinkle skies that embrace that peerless place in Space, it'll be as grand as it gets or grander — whoo-hoo! SEE YOU ON AUG 5! Can't wait!
Good follow up, I knew Neil in California in the 60's and he was and is everything he writes and performs about. We are fortunate he passed that 27 test but I don't think it was ever an issue. Stephen Stills on the other hand.....

Saw a PBS special on Neil Young the night. This song (and, of course, Hey Hey, My My) came out of a jam session with Devo.

Wish I knew Neil or at least seen and heard him in person—then I'm sure I'd rate his songs higher. I think he's a wonderful poet, musician, and human. But his songs from a detached vantage point are just OK for me, mostly due to his presentation.
