Laughing at the grave
He swears he's gonna give it up
It's never gonna be enough
I just wanna be there
When you're all alone
Thinking about a better day
When you had it in your bones
This could be the end
This could be the end
This could be the end
This could be the end
I see you in the evening
Sitting on your throne
You're playing with a fireball
And post it up against wall
I just wanna hold you
Take you by your hand
And tell you that you're good enough
And tell you that it's gonna be tough
This could be the end
This could be the end
This could be the end
This could be the end
Cos I ain't got a home
Running from the street lights
Shining on the grave
Once you've had the good stuff
Never gonna fill you up
I wanna be the one who
Gives them all a whirl
And gives them all the finger at it
Just a little taste of it
This could be the end
This could be the end
This could be the end
This could be the end
Cos I ain't got a home
I'll forever roam
No I ain't got a home
I'll forever roam
Said I ain't got a home
I'll forever roam
No I ain't got a home
I'll forever roam
I ain't got a home
I don't know what it is about Kings of Leon but their music always sounds like a mournful lament recorded in a subway bathroom.
Agree.. bloody dreadful
This is the the typical "I don´t know the PSD Button and write a thumb comment". This song is f*cking good i gave it an 8.
So when you wrote the thumb comment, was it a thumbs up or thumbs down?
This is an average group with a compelling singer ........unique voice.
I've gone 7 to 8 to 7 to 8 on this one, and both times I went +1 to 8 was because of his voice AND the beat/sound is pretty nice, and I want it to play in 'My Favorites'
Long Live RP and changing tastes!
These guys are hit or miss for me. ....this was a MISS!

These guys have gotten progressively worse with each album. Aha Shake Heartbreak was great... it's all been downhill since then.
Yeah kind of the same with Coldplay, Parachutes and A Rush of Blood to the Head was really good. Very extreme downturn since then.
***baseball analogies for those not in the know about Western sports***
Same here!
3 years since last play? still too soon
Never been a fan either....
Kings Of Leon Cancel US Tour, Admit They Have 'Problems'
Kings Of Leon Reschedule Tour Dates After Frontman Caleb Followill Walks Off Stage
Great tune though...
agreed. a wonderful song.
not really surprising some of them having a substance-abuse-career going.
there was always something EXCESS-ive about those guys. it just took a look at their early videos...imho.
hope the singer get his act together (though I guess, that's not very likely...guess he'll be taking the amy-route)
must be pretty horrible, watching one's sibling f****g up so bad... :o/ and the arts going down the drain...
i'm not really a fan of the kings of leon, but I like some of their tunes...a lot...

Wait a minute! CMax has an honest question. If YOU know so much more about music chadlymn perhaps you could educate those of us, like me, who have studied music since the 1st grade and attend 2-4 shows a month but also don't get why this band is as popular as they are. It's not as if they're holding down a groove I want to dance to, or writing particularly interesting lyrics, or singing in more then one limited octave, or writing music that sounds anything more then derivative of half a dozen other more interesting or popular bands.
I know they've been around for more then a decade and they've certainly paid their dues to the point where they deserve their moment in the sun. But they certainly seem ordinary next to some of the great new bands we hear on RP regularly.
Only Rhianna could challenge KoL for the "Most Constipated Voice" prize.
all this, and yet they succeed. Sasha I cannot agree with your points more. YOu are correct on every one as far as I can assess. But I too am a fan and find myself enjoying every new release. I wish I could explain it in the way that I explain my love for other musicians or bands but the formula seems to fail when it comes to K.O.L.
Sometimes the whole is greater than the parts. I think that is the case with KOL.

I'm sure that's an awfully offensive stereotype but it is funny

I think Hannio took this one. Actually, I'm positive he did. :)
Well of course you do. Should I be surprised? You and he seem of like minds about Kings of Leon. I don't have a problem if you don't like the music, but if you enjoy characterizations such as:
.Jon Anderson sounds like a fairy, and Anthony Followill sounds like an inbred hick. (Hannio)
then your opinion means as little to me as his.
I don't for a minute think you believe that, but nice try. I'll quote a friend of mine's response when confronted with people who are beyond all reason. She was born and raised in the south, so she just smiles and says, "Well, bless your poor heart". I think that sums it up nicely.

Yet more proof I succeeded.

Is that the best you can do? Oh wait, I remember your last posting on Pyro. You tried your best, I'm sure.

A valiant but failed attempt at satire. Don't give up!

Yeah, if you like a vocalist who sounds like someone with a mullet who drives a beat up Camaro with an "Ain't Skeered" decal and marries his cousin after getting her pregnant and lives in a single wide down by the river and there are only two payments left on the shootin' car out in the weeds but he's been out of work since '08 and spends all his money on tattoos and beer. But other than that, I agree.
That doesn't necessarily make him a bad singer; you've roughly characterized a substantial portion of lead vocalists and/or musicians from throughout the history of rock'n'roll.

meh
Such a great description ... but you forgot the other thing he spends money on: cigarettes! I was gonna put a smiley emoticon at the end of my comment, but it's too sadly true to be funny.
These guys are really good. Great vocals.

I concur. I guess everyone has one of those bands that they can't understand why it's so popular - this is mine. I'll patiently mute while others enjoy.
Well said.

again and again
LOL!? Really, how on earth could you say that? That sounds like just a very typical KOL basher statement...so you're saying "Arizona" sounds like "Black Thumbnail" and "Red Morning Light" is similar to "Manhattan"...how about "Back Down South" and "The End" (and those are from the same CD!)? Actually listen a bit before you make such comments...
No, Cowgirl is right. Several of their songs sound very similiar. This is a couple clicks away from Sex on Fire. Good stuff though, I am beginning to listen to them more and more. Being very defensive me thinks.

Sadly, I can't get into this guy's voice. He always sounds like he's in pain, as if he's trying to squeeze out an enormous log. A shame, really, as the band's good and the lyrics are interesting.

I started listening to this band long before becoming a fan of RP. I was surprised at the amount of negative comments they engender, but they've never let me down. I still think they're making interesting music, although I will admit the lyrics to Sex On Fire are just bad.
That song has just become a guilty pleasure to sing along with.

"The End" at the beginning? But that just confuses people.... Dag blasted punks!
