So now I am older
Than my mother and father
When they had their daughter
Now what does that say about me

Oh, how could I dream of
Such a selfless and true love
Could I wash my hands of
Just looking out for me

Oh man what I used to be
Oh man, oh my, oh me
Oh man what I used to be
Oh man, oh my, oh me

In dearth or in excess
Both the slave and the empress
Will return to the dirt, I guess
Naked as when they came

I wonder if I'll see
Any faces above me
Or just cracks in the ceiling
nobody else to blame

Oh man what I used to be
Oh man, oh my, oh me
Oh man that I used to be
Oh man, oh my, oh me

Gold teeth and gold jewelry
Every piece of your dowry
Throw them into the tomb with me
Bury them with my name

Unless I have someday
Ran my wandering mind away

Oh man what I used to be
Montezuma to Tripoli
Oh man, oh my, oh me

Can anyone recommend a single (!!!!) good song, even
a mediocre one, of this boring bunch of sociology students?
TERRIBLE!

BEDOUIN DRESS    If you don't like that one, don't bother with the Foxes anymore you just won't like anything they do.{#No}
Yes, this is probably the worst song on a good album.
Hated it!
Yo this song goes pretty well with https://rainymood.com

I kinda like it too... I've heard the CD a couple of times now and like it so far. I love the first two CD's as well. But there's something about the Fleet Foxes, the replay value of their music isn't that good i think... At first i really love it but after a few listens i don't feel the urge to listen again... Then after a while when i convince myself to listen one of their CD's again i like it, but it doesn't happen spontaneously...

Nice song, needs a pint of Guiness and some buddies to cry with!

word
Fleet Foxes rates high on what I call "self-similarity" as others have noted.  My takeaway is that unless I really like that style, I only listen to a few songs before moving onto something different.  I don't need my bands to be eclectic, just my radio station. :-P

That said, I like this song fairly well on first listen.

Dude this sucks!

Say it ain't so. I loved Fleet Foxes 1st full length CD (except for the last 2 cut). So far I;ve heard 3 cuts from their latest on RP and none of them come close to anything from 1st CD

I totally agree.  The title track is really bad.  The other tracks I have heard are better, but do not compare to their earlier stuff.

If Fleet Foxes were a racehorse, I'd describe it as "one-paced". All the FF songs I've heard on here really do sound the same, with little variation that these ears can pick up. 3 from the Nottingham jury.

Brilliant! The darker subject material contrasts nicely with those sweet harmonies.

The new album is very good but it's a little deeper and a shade darker than their previous effort.

Not my taste!
