Väga hea interpretatsioon. Grateful Dead tiksub taustal.
Oh NO, Flo!{#Naughty}
This version is terrible with no questions...
Just because it's Florence and The Machine does not make it worth listening to. This version of a classic song is really annoying.
I loved Florence's first album sooo much but this song gives me the "I hope it's over soon" feeling. Oh what a shame, I was hoping so much for the new album to be a bummer *sniff* At least this song is lacking all the originality and freshness that made Lungs for me so good.
Love Florence, but not this song.
I want to like her a lot more, but she only has one volume—loud. I hope that she learns how to use her beautiful voice in a more nuanced way.
Within the last hour, Florence appeared on SNL - it was a captivating performance. She wore a zaftig sequined dress - black & white, a real stunner with her red hair.  And a rather large professional tax deduction.  I hope Natalie Merchant was watching; those Salvation Army $2/pound sweaters that Natalie wears don't qualify for a professional dress tax deduction. Come to think of it, when was the last time NM appeared on SNL.
Generally like her, but this is pretty horrible.
Meh....
Yea, I agree with most of the comments below. Then again, I do not really like any Florence. Kinda like Arcade Fire, don't get what people see in them.{#No}
Oy vey.  Like nails on a chalkboard she is.

You can have it.

It's not often I hear a song for the very first time, hear only two lines and decide it is BRILLIANT.  Had to immediately see who it was, and was not at all surprised to see Florence and the Machine.

I can't download this fast enough.  Fantastic.
Horrible.
I rather liked that. Kind of sounds like Bob Dylan's recent band behind her...

See ON hea.

Think out of box.

I'll second that its a great rendition, sort of puts a totally new slant on this song. Had me signing in to comment.

Agreed

I like both the original and the Stones' cover a lot more.
just popped in here to say I don't hate this song. funny that it has a pretty solid rating, despite the number of harsh (bordering on rude) comments. Put me down for 7/10.

Who the F*CK gave her permission to sing butcher such an awesome classic? GAH!!! {#Headache}
Sorry. {#Shifty} I'm just not a Florence fan.

Now, let's not argue about who butchered whom.
Sounds a bit like Michelle Shocked from her "Arkansas Traveler" days.
Y'know, I almost like this one.  I think the rhythm really kicks it up a bit.  But Florence is still a bit too bombastic - just a tad.  I can dig it, though. Just different enough to be able to pull it off.
This cover is about 10 minutes too long. .
make it stop
I love Florence and the Machine but I'm really not digging this cover. Definitely prefer the original in this case, though I usually appreciate Bill's selection of unusual covers. This is just a bit too scattered, sort of directionless and bland somehow.
Sorry, this is just not working for me.

First time I head it I wasn't overly impressed.

Bought the album as I thought the concept was decent.
 Love this tune now!

...hey cool!..

This is fun yet also respectful cover of the original, and IMO is a refreshing change from the seriously overplayed classic. Love the background tuba. Nice one, Flossie :). 8 from the Nottingham jury.

I was joking around with Joe B. Mauldin, Buddy's Bass player, and mentioned this track and the tuba.  Which took up way out into a conversation on the use of the Tuba (upright double E-flat) in the very early record industry.  Seems that the bass fiddle caused too much vibration in the "microphone horns" which were used to directly cut the recorded track onto the wax master.  So, since the early Jazz Bands (Spelled "Jass" in many cases because the word "Jazz" was an African-American slang word for fornication in the early 1900's) already used a tuba, recording artists simply put the tuba in instead of the bass violin.  The tuba became very popular as the bass line for recording during the period 1900 through about 1930 when electric recording microphones were in common use.  Aside from the tuba, the Bass Saxophone and the Sarusphone were also used.  One hardly sees a Sarusphone any longer, BTW if you happen to have a King Brothers Double Contrabass E-flat Sarusphone in your attic or garage, please let me know and I'll bring cash money.

Whew, that conversation sure went on a tangent.

I never said Alexandra couldn't criticise.   I just wondered who gave her permission to, seeing as she seems to think others require permission to do what they do.

I think she should stick to originals.

I loved this new interpretation of a classic. I think the whole album is a great challenge to Buddy Holly fans to listen to songs in a new way. I'm not crazy about all of them, but I appreciate an artist trying to make a great song fit their style. Way to go! {#High-five}

Weird thing - this song began and my computer, which had been working just fine prior to it, started to cut out and quit buffering. It was almost as if it was doing that "hands-over-the-ears-la-la-la-I'm-not-listening!" thing.

Sometimes, it really scares me how well my computer knows me.

My screen went black on the first note. When I was able to reboot, it was to the rewarding first notes of J.J. Cale; weird that.

Years ago I made my own Holly covers cassette—yeah, YEARS ago {#Lol}—Blind Faith's "Well All Right," The Beatles' "Words of Love," the Stones' "Not Fade Away," Blondie's "I'm Gonna Love You Too," and more. It's not possible to overestimate his influence.
NOT impressed 5.

i love florence!
I love Buddy Holly and I totally didn't recognize this cover until the DJ named it. Not sure if that's a good thing.

they almost pullled off a nice jam during the end there, but not quite...a little too repetitive and restrained.

Damn, that's hot. Go figure someone could do yet another version of Not Fade Away.
