Hello stranger, can you tell us where you've been?
More importantly, however did you come to be here?
Though a stranger, you can rest here for awhile
But save your energy, your journey here is far from over
Come the sunrise we'll descend through Judgement Valley
And weigh your worth before her majesty, the Verde River

No direction, but to follow what you know
No direction, but a faith in her decision
No direction, but to never fight her flow
No direction, but to trust the final destination
You're a stranger till she whispers you can stay
You're a stranger till she whispers that your journey's over

Weigh your worth before her majesty, the Verde River
Weigh your worth before her majesty, the Verde River
Weigh your worth before her majesty, the Verde River
Weigh your worth before her majesty, the Verde River

No direction, but to follow what you know
No direction, but a faith in her decision
No direction, but to never fight her flow
No direction, but to trust the final destination
You're a stranger till she whispers you can stay
You're a stranger till she whispers that your journey's over

Weigh your worth before her majesty, the Verde River
Weigh your worth before her majesty, the Verde River
Weigh your worth before her majesty, the Verde River
Weigh your worth before her majesty, the Verde River

That cover art may be creepier than the banana slug one.

One of Maynard James Keenan's projects. He may be crazy as a bag of eels, but I like his work. If you like this you may like Tool and A Perfect Circle, another two of his creative outlets.

Sure. But we could also say that about everyone who posts "I like this."

Also I don't like this.

Sorry about this, but I ill-advisedly replaced direction by erection... I know, toilet humour and all that. But still, kind of funny :)
And I do like the tune.
Particolare non banale
“Rock supergroup”? PSD
I am liking Puscifer the best of the Maynard output.

The more I listen to this particular song, the more I like it

Where do I start?   Album suggestion please?

I always got the impression APC was more Billy Howerdel's project whereas Puscifer is mostly Maynard's baby.
Hasn't been played since April? Didn't miss it.

     Eloquence shining through.
Not my taste
...this is a very good album; better than his first...
nice
Wow, judging by comments, a real marmite song!
I wanted to give it a 2, but I bumped it to a 4 for originality.  Still, I don't get it.  Is this good?
He certainly can do wrong in mine.

And there was me thinking it was a mash of Pustulent and Lucifer
Hated this song the first time I heard it.  Now rate a 7.  Go figure.

I went away for over a year solely because of this and other 'bands' of this ilk being on virtual repeat.... having come back the mix has gone back to what it used to be thankfully and this sort of trash is only played occasionally thankfully!

I was just about to say something similar about your post, but I won't. For the rest of you who actually listen to the music: interesting song; bizarre album.
How is it that so many comments on here call this crap, yet I rate it an 8.  I must have crap taste?  Sorry -- discovered this on RP and really enjoy it!

not sure what 'turgid' means. bit I agree.

It's unlikely that Maynard Keenan has ever performed at a renaissance festival.  Maybe he secretly wanted to.

I try to keep an open mind, but it was pretty bad
There is something in this song...
Good.
I used to come up with songs like this when I played D&D, oh so many years ago....lol
 {devil}
I haven't words for how bad this is! Well I have, but they are not printable in public!
Piece of C  R  A  P !!!!
This really clicks with me at this moment in time!
This is good, but it really makes me want to hear "Kalopsia" from Queens of the Stone Age's "...Like Clockwork" for some reason.
Nice variety. Thanks and appreciated.
I ended up getting all of Tool's CDs based on this CD's songs played here.  I definitely recommend it.

Excellent tune.  Louder the better!
Great song. play it LOUD.
Atrocious song writing!
Not sure how you can find fault with this... Quiet a likable song, from a couple who look like they busted out of Dollywood

Tedious as hell

I thoroughly enjoyed that exchange.
8->9 because it's Friday and the latest phase of this unending project is coming to an end. Need beer.
Probably the best song on the new album (which I find to be pretty weak overall). Has a bit of an early Tool vibe but without the awesome drumming that only Danny Carey can provide.
Just about everything this man has ever done is awesome.

You obviously softened them up. It's like opening a glass jar with a tight lid - you struggle and struggle, then pass it to someone else who then opens it with the slightest effortless twist because you've loosened it up for them.
Having bought this CD, my thoughts turn to...Should I go out and get all of Tool?  I am not overly listened in Tool.  I am thinking yes.
I like where this song transports me. Nice view.

Hey, this kinda sounds like "The Spring Standards".

(not really. I'm just messin' with NeuroGeek :)

Fifths :)
I really like this tune.  Its always surprising to me when an artist can go from making music that I love (tool) to crap (prefect circle) then back to really good music (this).  I mean, its the same dude... what is going on?

No Autotune - Just Maynard's er, distinctive voice + some unusual harmonies from Carina Round. Just listened to this nice & loud — quite an impressive tune despite its low cumulative rating.
This whole record is fantastic!  Funny... Triggerfinger came right before this and I bought both this record and their most recent at the same time.

Boring, indeed.

PS: The Verde (Green) Valley is near where he has his vineyards. The Verde River runs through the Valley. Its about 50 miles south of FLagstaff and 90 miles north of Phoenix. But who really effin cares...

I care.  Is it near Arcosanti?

Has anybody ever tried Maynard's wine. Curious to know if it's any good.

I tried his "Anubis." The grapes came from CA because his AZ vineyard is still being established. The vines are young. The wine was very good. At the time (about 2 years ago) he only had one vintage from AZ and it was pretty pricy. I'll probably get a bottle one of these days though, to see if it is any good.
Sorry, too repetitive for my tastes.
This song really reminds me of Morcheeba's "Over and Over" at its beginning.
Odd song but quite compelling.
I recommend the documentary Blood Into Wine about Maynard's Arizona vineyard. Entertaining and interesting. The guy is a genius.
All-right, it grew on me

Song is GREAT! TRUE CLASS! AND POWERFUL - yes!

liking this very much. very strong song.

For some reason I keep thinking of the shot in Rolling Stone of Arnold in his speedo holding Dolly up. Bulging body parts from each.

Not the most eloquent comment, but I can't argue with it's validity.  Keenan is fucking brilliant.

Annoying and compelling all at once.

Different. Intriguing. Ear-catching. And very RP. 8 from the captivated Nottingham jury.
Would've sworn this was a 70's prog rock track... and not in a good way.

7 for the song. 2 for the cover. It's too camp to be truly camp.

What are you goin' on about?

This is what Mickey Dolenz of the Monkey's would have sounded like, had he done a solo project.  {#Idea}

Merkin = Keenan

As Zappa once said: "NO COMMERCIAL POTENTIAL."

There is a lot to like in the song

however, the repetitive grating noise subtracts 2 points

Annoying, not clever or beautiful

Horrible...makes me want to kill something....make it stop.
8-> 9 Awsome
Best album cover of the year.
