And think of living as it was
Into the future we must cross (must cross)
And I'd like to go with you
And I'd like to go with you
You say I'm harder than a wall
A marble shaft about to fall
I love you dearer than them all (them all)
So let me stay with you
So let me stay with you
And as we walked into the day
Skies of blue had turned to grey
I might have not been clear to say (to say)
I never looked away
I never looked away
And though I'm feeling you inside
My life is rolling with the tide
I'd like to see it be an open ride
Along with you
Going along with you
The time we borrowed from ourselves
Can't stay within a vaulted well
And living turns into a lender's well
So let me come with you
And let me come with you
And when we came out into view
And there I found myself with you
And breathing felt like something new
Along with you
Going along with you
Yes!
Yay for us!

I had this song in mind when my oldest son turned 18 and was moving away. This whole album is terrific.
Yet another Firesign Theater alumnus!!
Genesis - every time RP plays it, for some reason, I have to check again to make sure I rated it a 10, and of course it hasn't somehow slipped down on its own! When I hear this played, I wish there were possibly three songs I could rate higher than 10, and this would be one of them.
I cannot explain in words why I have been such a fan of Jorma Kaukonen all of my life, well since I was old enough to use my parent's turntable. The first records I bought were Jefferson Airplane. I remember my mother telling me, "when you grow up, you won't like this music any longer, you are wasting your allowance!" I tried to explain to her that while I agreed with her that Nat King Cole was a god, I seriously doubted I would ever find Jefferson Airplane to be something that I would grow out of. Needless to say, I never did. I am 60 now and she is 85, maybe I will call her up today and tell her, I never completely grew up.
To this day, this song stops me dead for its duration.
You should just show her this post. Nice.
An 8 for this.
Sounds like Yusuf Islam, commonly known by his stage name Cat Stevens
Odd. I hear nothing at all that is even vaguely similar. He sounds exactly like a much younger Jorma. The Cat Stevens resemblance? Nope. Also a vastly better musician.
I remember much but not all of that show also. The Radiators also performed. I believe that there was one other band as well. 1AM to about 4AM (f not later) at the Flamingo? I clearly remember that there were very few in attendance and you could just walk up to the front of the stage for a while before and then go back to your comfortable seat. Does this help you to jog your memory at all? There were a lot of melodic lines and visions ripping through that Universe that night.
Hmm, dont think they ever played Flamingo...must have been Aladdin in the 80s or Sam Boyd in the 90s.
Jorma... Hot Tuna in Vegas during a Dead tour stop. Barely remember any of it - but I do remember Jorma's massively melodic guitar lines ripping through the universe that night.

Check out Fur Peace Ranch. His amazing music school in Ohio.

Are they difficult to feed? The egrets? Joking aside, I am sorry for your loss and hope the memories will ease the pain soon.

I was thinking John Bramwell.
:o) Connecticut
Added to the RP playlist just after my comment on Hot Tuna — Water Song
You're welcome.
I really agree. The song is complete without the addition of strings and more authentic.
Thank you for playing this, Bill.

Ahhhhhhhhhhh with a long sigh
Thanks Bill $ Rebecca

This is Cat Stevens, man.
No its not, but I grant you is has some similarities to Cat Stevens and Donovan. But nevertheless it is Jorma Kaukonen and if you don't believe me you can search for and watch him playing it live on YouTube.
Electric live version on `Double Dose´ from 1978.
This is Cat Stevens, man.
Sounds more like a vintage Airplane topped with some chunk-light Tuna to me ... ;)
This is Cat Stevens, man.
Sounds Donovanesque to me:

What amazes me is I think I bought nearly everything ever put out by Hot Tuna and never heard this, never even had a clue about Jorma's catalog. Thanks Bill... RP just never stops surprising me.
Eggs Ackley, me too
But not really. This song lacks the quirky aspects of Cat Stephens' delivery. Somehow more authentic, although that's about as subjective a way to look at it as any. I haven't heard this in ages and really appreciate it all.
That's probably true, but as english isn't my native langage, I might be missing some of Stevens (had his name wrong by the way!) hmm..quirk? Quirkiness?!
The voice and the tune just reminded me of him! But anyway, I find both great! :)
9 for the song but a 10 for the girl who introduced me to this gem.
"the girl who introduced you to this gem"... I suppose you mean the song
9 for the song but a 10 for the girl who introduced me to this gem.
I echo the sentiment of a post below; times like these, hearing this song, I wish I could have kept the good love (and dropped the bad).

Memories of a great show in DC where he invited everyone back for the second show.
Just heard it in the movie Transcendence last night and LOVED it.
