Hey it's me
I just got off the train
A frightening place
Their faces are concrete grey
And I'm wondering, should I turn around?
Buy another ticket
Panic is coming on strong
So cold, from the inside out
No great job, no message coming in
And you're so small
Glassy eyed light of day
Glassy eyed light of day
The path trails off
And heads down a mountain
Through the dry bush, I don't know where it leads
I don't really care
And the path trails off
And heads down a mountain
Through the dry bush, I don't know where it leads
I don't really care
I feel this often, go
I feel this often, go
I just got off the train
A frightening place
Their faces are concrete grey
And I'm wondering, should I turn around?
Buy another ticket

It's why I like the National, just fits the overall vibe on RP, chilled, even when it's rocking. The music speaks without the crap they add on commercial radio where there is no space for silence.

Diversity within the bounds of taste are wha makes RP work for us and keeps us donating. These sorts of tracks are part of that for me, but then I don't need thumping happy melody ever time. Thanks Bill.

Perhaps the worst track on the album - but still "pretty good."

I don't hate Thom all the time, but my interest in RP and willingness to donate $ are dropping because of all the Radiohead songs I hear. RPers snarked for a while about all the Mark Knopfler stuff that Bill was playing, but Radiohead gets far more play than Mark ever did.
Gotta give this track a 2.
Yeah.
With the odd ambient exception from their last few albums, Radiohead would not know a melody or a groove if one jumped up and bit them on the dick.
Bill is justifiably proud of his playlist. The glitch is that there is already far, far too much Radiohead on it, and when he puts their new exercise in atonal caterwauling in heavy ro, it becomes unbearable.
So, my wife and I continue to donate, but almost never listen.

I don't know if it is a genre yet, but "Autoparody" would make a good band name.
Is autoparody a music genre? If so, I guess I know genre of this track. 4.

Man, break out of that mould. The best music doesn't fit into a genre. Forget genres, sit back and enjoy this wonderful music.
DOES THIS DUDE AND THIS BAND EVER SING HAPPY UPBEAT ENERGETIC ROCK AND ROLL!? That's the genre, right? I mean, alt punk rockabilly blues whatever. You know, like The Who. They sang about dark shit but seldom sounded like they needed therapy. Even though at least one of them actually did....

Has no one else noted that Radiohead are producing the same whiny stuff over and over again ?
I feel like I'm taking crazy pills !

I do like that song they played with the USC marching band a few years ago at an awards ceremony. I like Radiohead when I am in the mood.
