May I stand unshaken
Amid, amidst a clash of worlds

Did I hear a thunder?
Did I hear you break?
I can't quite remember
Just what guided me this way, oh, oh

May I stand unshaken
Amid, amidst a clash of worlds

The pines, they often whisper
They whisper what no tongue can tell
He who drinks from the deep water (Ooh, ooh)
May he know the depths of the well (Ooh, ooh)
Well

May I stand unshaken (May I)
Amid, amidst a clash of worlds (Mmm)
May I stand unshaken
Amid, amidst a clash of worlds

Mmm, oh, traveler
What have you seen?
Were there crossroads
Where you been, where you been?
I once was standing tall
Now I feel my back's against the wall

May I stand unshaken (Oh)
Amid, amidst a clash of worlds
May I stand unshaken
Amid, amidst a clash of worlds
Oh, oh, oh

The morning light when it comes to me
It was there, but I could not see
Am I to wander as a wayward son?
Will the hunter be hunted by the smoking gun? (Oh)

May I stand unshaken
Amid, amidst a clash of worlds (World)
May I stand unshaken (May I)
Amid, amidst a clash of worlds (World)
May I stand unshaken (May I)
Amid, amidst a clash of worlds

Wow, I just heard this song playing RDR2 last night.  So good!

100%! It's like this song was written for that game.
Nope, next.
Red dead redemption 2!

I had to bump my rating from 8 to 9, after hearing this song in the context of the game RDR2, after chapter 4.  Pretty emotional content for a video game.

are good. but this sounds nothing like them.

love this artist.  he blows me away every time.
Is it just me, or did the sound pan slowly back and forth randomly throughout that track?  I have AirPods but the head tracking and spatial audio was disabled.   Anyway. it's a solid track.  I give it an 8 for sure!

I get it. All black vocalists sound the same. I don't agree beyond these are great examples where that's not true..
Neville Brothers :-)
Just watched season 4, episode 3 of Atlanta last night and D'Angelo plays a prominent role in one of the story lines. Since this genre is not in my wheelhouse, it was an eye-opener to his influence. Great to hear him on RP. Thanks, Bill!
Wow! RP breaking new ground with D'Angelo! Bravo.
cinematic peace-for another Netflix drama
MY feeelings are being....stirred!
If you like this, you will not regret checking out Christian Larsson's cover of Unshaken.

Also - if you're a RDR2 fan, this will hit harder.

I stand, especially now, by my original comment...

Man, what a voice.
Great lyricand greater presentation!
This song and the accompanying scene in RDR2 was one of the most powerful emotional moments in the game. A great song that will always have a rich place in my heart.

2nd listen is a CHARM! I had never heard of him prior to RP. It just gets better! Thank You, RP!
Excellent!
Great artist. Totally underplayed
WOW! Goosebumps...

I hear D'Angelo.

Another great song brought to you by Daniel Lanois.

Amazing. I thought of Lanois as soon as the first bass tones emanated from the speakers.  That guy is the master of making the spaces between notes just as important as the notes themselves.
Damn, I miss that horse.

WOW - Wiki says he is.

You made me crying as I never cried before  pure bliss thank you forever  music is the ultimate emotion and your the best radio ever, as I said before  Thanks!
Another great song brought to you by Daniel Lanois.

Maybe they view it as off-topic in a forum about music in general and, in this case, D'Angelo in particular.

Too bad my job's been all overtime since the pandemic...cuz it would have been the perfect time to finish the game. Though now fall's here maybe I will!
Long Live RP!!

OMG YES. What a gaming experience. And that scene where this song plays..... Chills.

Hi Bill, since you like this so much, how about adding some Neville Brothers to the rotation?
Six plays in the last 30 days according to the RP tracker. I think that’s the most times I’ve seen a song played in that interval on RP.
Another D'Angelo
The Lost Neville Brother?

And, lost waaay too many, to one "substance", wet or dry.

Ii like this tune but it is being played too often.

Calming...
A bit like my voice - if I could sing ...
I wanted to see what D'Angelo is like live and I ended up with this clip with Daniel Lanois.

& sure enough, this was produced & co-written by Lanois. Funny 'cause initially I thought upon hearing that this was a Lanois/Blind Boys of Alabama thing.
7 -> 8
what a voice
This guy has one smooooth voice. 8 from the mellowed out Nottingham jury :)

Yes! Great moment in the game, when Arthur is riding his horse alone and this song kicks in. I turned on "cinematic mode" and just listened to the song, and it was absolutely perfect.

HA!  I'll laugh at your joke, although assuming OP meant "too bad he's a recovering drunk" is like saying "too bad the cancer patient is in remission."  Seriously, reading about D'Angelo since the late 90s he really sounds like a decent guy...LLRP and Recovering Drunks!!
Perhaps a tad over the top, but I like the effects on the vocals in this. Especially the 'megaphone' "Yeah" and other ad libs in the last section. Cool tune.

Sounds like continuation of Skip McDonald's Little Axe project. Some of those background yowls are the same used on the Little Axe's 1st album 'The Wolf That House Built' - which is a brilliant mix of Howling Wolf samples w dub and screaming guitars.

I might have to check that out since I'm liking this D'Angelo cut so much....in fact I went with another +1 calling it a 9 now....and partly due to how not-rKelly he is....he almost seemed embarrassed by the successes he had in the 90s....cool dude in my book....LLRP!!

I'm signing up for Amazon premium so I can get Alexa to play this again

Nice!  BillG w/ some MORE R&B tracks....pretty cool.....I'll rate it at 7 for now....Long Live RP!!

**edit** After hearing this a few times, I'm going to lean on this being more soul than R&B - still, hearing R&B artists is cool, welcomed and this one is an 8 now for me....Long Live RP!!

Almost bumping this to a 9 after playing the part of RDR2 where Arthur returns from "Cuba" and boy it fit PERFECTLY in the game....well done Rockstar!  Well Done BnR!!  Long Live RP!!
Too bad the guy was a drunk
What a tune!!!
Bill, please play it more!
That is quite a tune.
I'm hearing Leonard Cohen, Boogie Street. Not a bad thing for me.
Reminds me a lot of the Chambers Brothers from years gone by.  I liked them, too.
RP. please play more D'Angelo.
Is that the Blind Boys of Alabama singing back-up?
Sounds like a movie music
Loving the groove and atmosphere of this.

New tune on RP.  Only 3 ratings when I chimed in here.
Going with a 6 on my 1st hear.
It gets better when you listen carefully and read the lyrics. The music is barely there, but it's a 6.
