We love(!) this. Thanks for these broad horizons. Great dance music this and Big Cat. Had to get up and move.

I've noticed that almost all African or Arabic music get a disproportionate number of 1 votes on RP.  Sort of sad that there are so many narrow minded people out there. This is an 8 for sure :-)

Then let's just tip the balance by upping those ratings!!

This is a remake of a classic Arab song. There are so many different versions. I couldn't find the original, but I grew up listening to it.

Edit: I did some research and it's a classic Tunisian folk song. This is the most famous version: Saber El Rebai - "Sidi Mansour"

Cool!  Great Tune!!  I like it.  Thanx RP!

It's not so much of a "narrow minded" issue, but rather we all have different perceptions of what we find pleasing.  I wish the decades of belly dancing would have given me more of an appreciation for this style of music, but unfortunately it has done the opposite.  There's just something about the higher pitched sounds, nasal style vocals, and repetitive drumming that doesn't turn my crank.  I think the music has merit, it's just not my jawn.  My favorite belly dance choreos I wrote were to Bowie, Queen & Thomas Dolby.  Guess my Mtv roots are showing!

Doesn't that count as 'cultural misappropriation' in these sadly 'woke' days...? I'm of a generation where I'd gladly use 'wake' instead to mourn the tolerance that used to be.

Hmmh, not for me... first time I voted a 1 point. This music is a pain to my ears.

Does not hold a candle to the great Egyptian singers like Um Kalthoum or Shadia

Unfortunately, Um Kalthoum hasn't made a record in the last 40+ years, she died February 3, 1975.

You should get out more.

Does not hold a candle to the great Egyptian singers like Um Kalthoum or Shadia
Classic Middle East. Love it!
Great!! Thumbs up!
Fantastic Artist!!
I like this.  I can listen to this anytime.  Maybe not an entire album all at once, but on shuffle, or the way RP does it, it's a great addition to an eclectic set.
I'm sitting here trying to figure this out. I mean I like all kinds of music - Doesn't  everyone?
.........but just as I am about to hit the 'play next' button the violin kicks in and there you have it........Classic RP.  Not an 8 but a solid 6 and possibly a grower.
