Agreed, the emotion he invests (at times) is rarely equaled in a bar setting. Mostly because of the words he wrote. Even his comments between songs in concert are just so caring and human. I'll forgive the occasional crack in his voice as I'm sure most of his fans here do.
Good comment. He's hit or miss for me but he's got a distinct voice and knows how to use it. So not sure he sounds like an average dude at the local bar.

I have a sneaking suspicion that much of the dislike for Eddie derives from the fact that he just sounds an average dude singing down at the local bar. For me, that's a plus. I like the fact that he sounds like a real person and not produced into oblivion like so many commercial acts are. Perfection isn't perfect, sometimes the appeal lies in the faults....

I haven't had a chance to listen to the whole album yet,
but I suspect it will be a mediocre release just like the last Pearl Jam album.
I give a solid 7 points for this particular piece.
