A shakuhachi is a Japanese longitudinal, end-blown flute that is made of bamboo. 
But versions now exist in ABS, ebonite, anodized aluminum, and hardwoods. The instrument is tuned to the minor pentatonic scale.
Very interesting to me as Zen practicing German,
