Mellifluous and rich, the astonishing new studio album from London-based experimentalistsvKinkajous – led by drummer/ producer Benoît Parmentier and saxophonist Adrien Cau – is a whirling dreamland of electronic orchestrations and instrumental sensibility. Tentatively titled "Nothing Will Disappear'', on one hand their compositions play like little manifestos against an overstimulated world: an effort to propagate here, and to nurture something more steady in its place. But as the alchemy settles over these nine tracks, their contradictory excitement is unmistakable; beyond any grand statements so easy to attribute to instrumental music, its ethos is more marauding and curious than any other music in the Kinkajous catalogue, revelling in new sounds rather than lamenting the excesses behind its theme.

"With our previous record being quite dark and introspective, we wanted to escape into a different space with this music,"explains Parmentier."We wanted it to be more colourful, more driven, whilst pushing towards the edges of fragility and vulnerability."

Joined by Jack Doherty on synths/ keys, Andres Castellanos on bass, alongside the formidable strings of Alan Keary, "Nothing Will Disappear'' is cinematic to the last second. The philosophies behind the record's title flash by like passing streetlights on a night-time drive: the profound nature of human experience, the lasting impact of every action, anxiety and uncertainty versus interconnectedness and community. But there's no pretension; it's a record of documenting the turbulence of being alive rather than offering solutions, comfort or concern. And, from this framework erupts the limitless possibilities of their music for music's sake, freeing the album to explode into hundreds of different shapes.
