good lyrics for a funeral/post-party. We had them printed and placed next to great pics of happy memories at Kazoo's event. He was a fan, especially of this tune. i still believe he knew he would pass earlier but will hope our paths cross again.

She has a new book out and is on tour to support it. Seeing her in October in San Francisco. Her previous book, Just Kids, about New York City and her relationship with Robert Mapplethorpe, is very good.

Patti Smith, like her fellow New Jersey legend, and co-writer of her biggest hit song, "Because the Night", Bruce Springsteen, must be seen live to be truly appreciated. She is one of the greatest live performers that rock has ever seen. I have seen Patti live about 10 times, and each time was a special, and very unique, performance. I tell people the same thing about Bruce. Whenever someone says they don't like his music, or he is only alright, I ask: "Have you ever seen him perform live?" The answer is inevitably "No". And my reply is: "Well that explains why you are not a fan." I have seen Bruce perform live 34 times, and that is not a lot compared to many Bruce fans. I admit that I grew up in New York City and New Jersey, but most of the times I have seen both Bruce and Patti were when living in the San Francisco Bay Area.

...if we could just crop off the last third where she repeats everything like some kind of top 40 producer got in there and played with the length of the song. The first two thirds are inspiring, as is so much of her work. Can't explain "it".
