Los Tigers have departed Boston,
bye-bye greenie monstrosity, cool gimmick but still a gimmick,
bye-bye City Connect Unis, hope you make the connection,
bye-bye your cousin from Boston, don't look now dude but it ain't a micro-brew,
bye-bye lobster mac 'n cheese, do the Martha Vineyard residents like it?
We'll see ya all next year and put away that damn broom.

Crazy coast to coast road trip Boston, Arizona and San Francisco. And 2 days off on the road, today and Monday.
I suppose it's been done but I wonder what the flights are like from Seattle to Miami?
Can't wait to play the Giants, if los Tigres sweep the 2 game series (is 2 called a series?) then we'll be 2-4 in the last 6 they played going back to 2012 {#Flamed}

Didn't get bothered by the BoSox sweep because it was smothered up by some great news.
Chris Fetter was the pitching coach for U of Michigan, 2019 took them to the college WS. MLB teams have been calling D-Backs, Yanks and others. He always turned them down.
A.J. Hinch got the managing job in Detroit and Fetter came aboard. The last 2 seasons have been impressive, the bullpen this year was running neck and neck with the Dodgers.
Then the storm hit. U of M's head baseball coach left for Clemson. Rumors roared. On top of that A.J.has an opt-out at the end of this year.
Fetter to U of M and A.J. to maybe someplace like the Angels who have both the money and the need?
Panic over, Fetter told the U to not consider him for the job. I have to believe that the owner, GM, AJ and Fetter got it all aired out.
And you know the cards that A.J. & Fetter were holding are a lot better than the ones Ilitch & Avila were holding.
Ths band didn't break up after all.

Last issue:
El Mago has heated up and ready to take his magic to the desert and the so called Paris by the bay.

That's it from the Michigan desk, over to you.

Jays @ ChiSox on TV now, would gave preferred the other option Mets @ Houston.
Wednesdays and Thursdays have become my favorite days of the week with day time get-away-day  games.

***
If the division is decided on outfield play then the Sox ain't got a chance.
3 innings in and 3 odd minor league type plays.

Before Saturday I thought the Tigers were going to catch the rath of Michigan sports fans, which btw are closely related to Michigan MAGA fans.
Kidnap the governor, storm election offices in Detroit etc. Like I said previously they wanted blood.
Saturday they called up Riley Greene who would have made the team in April but broke his foot a few days before spring training was over.

Two games and 2 wins later all is well, we are all wearing nice stripey stripes now.
Drafted out of high school in 2019 now here he is ready to "win some ball games!"
U of Fla wanted him when he was 14 but down south they marry at 14, this guy is special.
In 2 games he has 4 walks, Tigers might get that in 4 games.
Bloop flare in first at bat for first hit.
But here's what I love about him, his 3rd MLB at bat starts with him in a 0-2 hole, 5 pitches later he's trotting to 1st with a walk.
And the other guys followed this weekend with better at bats.

Cywinski
Jackson Muchlinski? lol
I'm actually impressed that it came up with Cywinski. I wonder if that's higher up in the database of surnames so that's what it defaulted to.

It didn't even try to render "You never know what you're going to see and you've just seen it!" ...the AI bot is probably still trying to parse that into English.

Yes, 3. I had to check that it wasn't two, because I missed the first one. It's pretty impressive because a guy might have one pitcher figured out but these 3 different pitchers, he's dialed in.

Getting ugly in Motown.
I think the fans are now just understanding that the team isn't just bad but the rebuild that started in 2015 or '17 is a failure.
They are calling for heads understandably but  they forgot the heads were rolled last year.
Last Aug they fired 2 asst GMs, the head of minors player development, and about 25 scouts.
They promoted 2 analytics guys to asst GM, hired new minors player development people etc etc. They have been poaching from the Dodgers mostly but other teams to.
Also got a Cuban baseball pro to run an international scouting office with a good budget etc
Okay you get the idea.
But when they hired AJ as manager the Dec before that was when the changes started and the heads got rolled 8 months later.
No more heads to roll.

2nd baseman Kody that is. Yep been another one of those today.

I've seen the Giants come back from an 8-run deficit at home against the Dodgers in the 8th and 9th innings. If they'd needed more, they could have scored more. So for a team to throw in the towel with 9 outs remaining? I'd be pissed. Sure, sure, got to focus on the playoffs. But play the game in front of you. I'd be okay with throwing position players if no arms remain in the bullpen (declared starters excused, I suppose), but this makes-sense-on-paper stuff would drive me nuts if I sat down in the 6th inning with a $14 beer and they brought in a rookie from literal left field and said "throw as slow as you can."

I know what you mean but the Tigers are truly a M*A*S*H unit, the most injuries by far in the majors.
9 starting pitchers have been on the IL plus bullpen guys. And Eduardo just left the team for an undisclosed personnel reason.
They gave Tommy John a locker in the clubhouse, he's cutting 'em up left and right.
That's just the pitching staff, infielders and outfielders dropping like flies.
Kody would never had made the team if not for the injuries. Not being silly fan-boy, these injuries have been of a historical nature.

Heck man, the 1st base coach is out for 6 weeks with a broken foot, didn't get out of the way soon enough.

Totally a Moneyball thing. The out is too valuable to risk and they're right: a good pickoff play is a huge disaster for the batting team; that's what makes it interesting. Defensive indifference vs Stolen base — if the pitcher is hesitant to throw over because it might be called a balk, that's defensive indifference to me. And that's boring.

Meanwhile, the team from da Nortside has lost eight in a row.

There are 7 teams with winning percentages below .400, including 3 in the NL Central. That seems like a lot. There are 15 teams below .500, including 4 in the AL West.
